Best Leather Satchel

What is the Best Leather Satchel?

A leather satchel is a bag made from tanned animal hide and classically carried in the hand, but is coming to increasingly be worn over the shoulder, with an adjustable strap. Satchels are typically closed at the top by a large overhanging flap. Satchels have been used for centuries and became a popular fashion accessory in England during the 17th Century. Traditionally, satchels have been used to carry light to moderately heavy items, such as papers, books, and small personal items. Today satchels are frequently used to carry laptop and tablet computers.

What are the Features of Leather Satchels:

Unlike the more common hard-sided briefcase, satchels have soft sides without any internal supports. The traditional English-style satchel is a functionally simple design that features a generous main pouch with a large front flap that closes over the top of the bag. The flap may be fastened buy a buckle, strap, tie or clasp. Some satchels have a zippered-style closure, but this is not a feature found on a traditional-style satchel.

Variations in satchel design include single and double interior pockets with some satchels having smaller pockets on the front, either under or on top of the main flap, or on one or both the ends of the bag. These smaller pockets are designed to carry various personal items such as makeup, snacks, keys, wallets, cell phones and bank cards. Each individual outside pocket will generally have a separate fastener, to keep the pocket closed. Shoulder straps are usually adjustable and may be removable. Some satchels, usually the women’s models, have handles added to the top of the bag, so it can be carried in the hand like a purse.

Leather satchels may be made from various types of animal hide, such as cow, pig, ostrich, and kangaroo. Satchels constructed from the more exotic leathers, like ostrich and kangaroo, are lighter in weight, because the leather is thinner, but are almost always more expensive than satchels made from traditional cowhide. Ostrich skin is a popular choice for the more expensive satchels, as ostrich leather is very lightweight, strong, durable and especially attractive. Satchels are also sometimes fabricated from leather made from wild animals, such as buckskin, or deer hide.

Who Would Use a Satchel?

Satchels are useful for anyone who has to regularly carry items for work, school or travel, but may not like the style or functionality of briefcases or backpacks. Satchels can be used as a book bag, messenger bag, as briefcases and computer bags. Satchels are highly popular with bike messengers, as well as those who commute to work or school by bicycle, because the adjustable shoulder straps makes a satchel easier to carry while riding.

Why Use a Satchel?

Satchels are roomy, but structured, and can hold everything a modern styled briefcase, backpack or large handbag can, but have a timeless elegance that more traditional bags lack. A satchel can hold everything you need for a day at work or school or a short trip, without it looking like you are permanently leaving town.

Best Brands of  Leather Satchels

Phillip Lim, Akris, Alexander McQueen, Jason Wu, Jill Sander and Jimmy Cho are some of the top brands of satchels, sold by high-end retailers, and cost upwards of a $1,000. However, you don’t have to drain your bank account to buy a quality leather satchel as there are many excellent bags made by well-known manufactures, such as Samsonite, Tommy Hilfiger and Visconti, that can be had for a much more reasonable price, often for just a couple hundred dollars.

Take me to Church Chords – With Videos

Hozier came on the scene fast and hot.  With his hit single “Take me to Church”, it got everyone’s attention in a hurry.  It wasn’t long after that I began to wonder how to play it on the guitar.  I strummed, and picked, but it wasn’t correct.

It wasn’t until I saw him live in concert in Minneapolis last year that I noticed his playing style, and more importantly, the chords for “take me to church”.

Take me to Church Guitar Chords

As you can see the chords and progression are fairly simple, which makes this and easy and fun transition for piano and ukulele.

Take me to church chords hozier-2

Background and when it came out

Andrew Hozier’s ‘Take Me to Church’ was released in 13th September 2013 as his debut

single. Hozier wrote this song in his parent’s home following a bad breakup. At the

time, he was a struggling musician doing open mic sessions in Dublin area. The song is a

mid-tempo with lyrics that describe the musician’s frustration with the Catholic

Church’s stance on homosexuality.
After catching the attention of an independent label, the song slowly gained popularity

and with a release of its music video on YouTube it quickly went viral globally. It has

since topped the charts in over 12 countries and found its way to the top 10 in over 21

more countries becoming a radio hit and breaking the record to become one of the longest

running number one hit in its history at the time. In the U.S., ‘Take Me to Church’ has

been certified 5 times platinum and was nominated in the 57th Annual Grammy Awards for

the ‘Song of the Year Grammy Award.’

The meaning

The lyrical definition ‘Take Me to Church’ can easily be associated with sentiments of

happiness, forgiveness and peace, especially since the subject church is in it. However

Hozier’s lyrics hold a message about the church but not positive sentiments as one would

initially imagine. He focuses on the church’s contradiction on acceptance and how some

church institutions treat homosexuals and the general topic of sex, portraying them as

shameful acts when in reality these are some of the most natural forms of humanity.
The metaphor ‘Take Me to Church’ is used by the musician to compare his love life to his

religion. It’s lyrics are born out of Andrew’s frustration with the Catholic Church

which he suggests is full of hypocrisy. He uses his lyrics to reinforce his opinion

that sex is an act of love that overpowers the notion of being tied to a religion. What

the church finds taboo according to their doctrines, Hozier describes as the way to

ultimate satisfaction saying he is “a pagan of the good times”. Hozier’s lyrics clearly

convey a message that is against this shaming fueled by the church. In one of his

interviews, Hozier says that sexuality is natural regardless of orientation and that sex

is a human thing to undertake. But the church, with its doctrines has managed to portray

sex as a shameful, sinful offense to God.
The singer sings about a woman who invites him to ‘worship in the bedroom’ and when he

is with her he’s sent to Heaven, meaning that through the act of sex, he feels closer to

God, or as he puts it ‘the good life.’ But he describes the church as a bleak place

which spits out ‘poison’ to its congregation, teaching them that they were born in sin

i.e. ‘born sick’.
The chorus deeply emphasizes the punishment focus the church takes on its congregation,

shaming them when their actions are against the doctrines of the church. Hozier writes,

“I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies, I’ll tell you my sins and you can

sharpen your knife” a sarcastic way of telling the church to stop making it’s

congregation feel ashamed of their sexuality.
In another interview, Hozier explains that ‘Take Me to Church’ is meant to condemn

anti-homosexuality in the Catholic Church and says that the song’s lyrics and video are

meant to condemn policies that value prejudice and rules and shame sexuality and

acceptance. He further notes that ‘Take Me to Church’ is all about being assertive

enough to reclaim your humanity through love. This is to say that you should be able to

turn away from the intangible theories and choose to love and worship that which can be

experienced; something real and tangible.

The lyrics carrying this song

This really isn’t a guitar song, its more of a lyrics song.  They paint a picture and tell the story of love and god, and be it whom ever you choose to marry.  Take a Read

“My lover’s got humour
She’s the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody’s disapproval
I should’ve worshipped her sooner
If the heavens ever did speak
She’s the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday’s getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
“We were born sick”
You heard them say it
My church offers no absolutes
She tells me “worship in the bedroom”
The only heaven I’ll be sent to
Is when I’m alone with you
I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen, Amen, Amen
Take me to church
I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
If I’m a pagan of the good times
My lover’s the sunlight
To keep the goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
Drain the whole sea
Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course
That’s a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable?
We’ve a lot of starving faithful
That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work
Take me to church
I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
No masters or kings when the ritual begins
There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Amen, Amen, Amen
Take me to church
I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church Chords

As you can see, this is such a beautiful song that was well crafted.  Hozier has some deep lyrics that are really important for this song.  The guitar chords are easy enough for a moderate beginner to learn and excel at.  Have fun!

So as the title says, I got a drone for Christmas!! And I couldn’t be any happier.  Well, except for one reason, it’s the middle of winter in Northern Minnesota!  But that’s OK!  After a few test flights I can see why this is the best drone under 100 dollars.

I have been learning my skills in the house, and well it’s pretty scary!  My fiance thinks its hilarious!  The thing has a mind of its own sometimes and will suddenly turn on my,  I got hit once, but managed to dodge a few other times.PROPEL HD DRONE

I did manage to brave the cold and snow and take it out.  It wasn’t the cold so much that I was worried about, but more my lack of skill and the chance this thing would fly off.  Needless to say, I sucked at it, and it got full of a lot of snow.

So back to practicing in the house.  I have gotten WAY better and can now manage to maneuver well enough around the house.

This is the biggest problem I had.  Understanding the controls and how to use them.  The left lever is for up or down. And here is the thing, once it’s in the air, it will stay at the level you get it to.  It has some sort of smart sensor on it that make it hover.

So, knowing that I can now just focus on the right lever.  This will make it go forward, backward and go to the left or right.  Pretty simple from there, just don’t make any sudden moves or I promise, this baby is gone!

I noticed right away the drone would go to the right and forward on it’s on.  So I read the manual, I know, now you read the manual!  Anyway, so you can set the trim by if it goes forward you set that particular trim button to go the opposite way on click at a time.  Same goes for if it flies left or right.

Now we are flying!

So now my confidence is up and I am eager to take this drone for a proper flight at the park.  Below is my video and I consider it a success!

As you can see, it was still goes to the left a bit, but I didn’t lose it.  I had a decent amount of control and was able to guide it back to me with the auto land button.  It just slowly starts to drift down, I still had to fly it towards me.

Here is another video a few days later, I get ballsy and try to go higher, and I do.

These are tons of fun and I can’t wait to fly it in the summer.  It is a learning curve so don’t just go try to fly it as high as you can, be patient with it and it will be worth it.

Did you get one too, I want to hear all about it!  Leave a comment below.

Have you ever wondered what is an EP and LP?  Well it stands for the length of the record, album, CD, etc.  And this is where I get confused EP and LP both mean the same thing, well to me. EP stands for “extended play” and LP stands for “long play”.  Well what the heck is the difference, they both could mean the same thing?

If a band releases an album or CD and call it and EP, then this usually means it is about 3 to five songs only, or under 3o minutes of play.  It’s not a single and it’s not a full length album.  So why not just wait until you have 4 or more songs and you’ll have a full length?  Who knows?

The truth of the meaning EP goes back to the days of vinyl records.  Record companies would release their EP version of the LP album.  Maybe the best of the album, or a hit single with a few other random songs from the album on there.  Makes sense if you were a record exec, and you wanted to capitalize on that record as much as possible.

So this is the actual album, the one it was intended to be, there for it is called the LP, or long play.  Once again this was a term made for the day’s of vinyl, which are not gone by the way.  But in the category of LP and Ep.  LP would mean you were getting a 12″ shellac record that was 33 1/3rd RPM.

Containing around 10 songs, 5 songs on each side this was the industry standard for LP.

The LP was invented by Columbia Records in 1948.  They really changed the industry at that time, by making records that could hold 20 minutes on each side for a total of 40 minutes of music.

To sum up this article the main point is.

What is and EP? – It is a the length of the album.  A shortened version of the LP, containing less that 30 minutes of music and usually only has 4-6 songs.  This would mean a hit single and some obscure tracks possibly not on the LP

What is and LP? – The LP is the complete album containing 40 minutes or more of music and usually has around 10 songs on it.
